Love is in the air for 2014! And if you are not yet engaged, this year brings good marriage luck! This is the year to get married, start a new family and have another baby. That's the advise of Feung Shui master Marites Allen at Tessa's last Sunday.

I'm so happy that each year hostess with the mostest Tessa opens her home and celebrates Chinese New Year. Mind you, this is no ordinary party. Hers is complete with a lion dance, Chinese acrobats, her signature fun contests, Chinese dinner spread,  bazaar and a geomancer  - this is, Marites to boot to give us our lucky forecast for the year.

Feung Shui is an ancient Chinese practice of harmonizing the elements of any given space to assure good health and good fortune. The literal translation is wind-water.

There are 12 animal signs and this 2014, the animal sign is the Horse and basic element is Wood. Hence, this year is the Year of the Wooden Horse. which will commence on January 31, 2014 and end on February 18, 2015.

Marites warns that the wooden horse is quite aggressive and can be volatile. The best strategy is "to stay low key, be protected and risk taking should be kept to a minimum." All is not lost though because based on this year's paht chee,  she said that "there are positive indications for money-making and growth in the first half of the year."

The luckiest animal sign for the year is Sheep - this is, those born in 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991 and 2003. The sheep are blessed with the Golden Deity Star and thus "everything is possible this year" she announced. So, if you have Sheep friends, stay close to them so you can get their positive vibes.

The most auspicious directions for the year are: Northwest, North and West, East is for mentor luck. South is lucky for wealth. However, do not face the South direction and do not disturb, dig or renovate because the Grand Duke Jupiter moves to the South this year. If you are facing this direction at home or at work, Marites recommends to carry a Tai Sui amulet. Good luck and Fat Fat Fat (for luck)!!

Don't miss one of the rarest of planetary alignments in this century- the Venus Transit on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. This happens every 243 years with pairs of transits eight years apart. Only eight events have occurred since the invention of the telescope: 1631-1639, 1761-1769, 1874-1882 and 2004-June 26, 2012.

Wikipedia says that a Venus Transit takes place when Venus passes directly between the Sun and the Earth, becoming visible against the solar disk. During transit, it will be seen as a small black dot (left photo) moving across the face of the sun.  The transit in 2004 lasted six hours.

Well, we are quite lucky because this rare event is entirely visible in the Asia-Pacific region  (refer to chart below). According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical And Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), there are four named 'contacts' during a transit - this is, when the circumference of Venus touches the circumference of the sun at a single point. The contact points are (Manila time) at 6:09 am when Venus is outside the disk of the Sun;  6:27 am when Venus is entirely inside the disk of the Sun moving inward; 9:29a m when Venus is entirely inside the disk of the Sun, moving outward; 12:31pm when Venus is entirely outside the disk of the Sun, moving outward; and at 12:49 pm, the greatest transit, when Venus is at the middle of its path across the solar disk and marks the halfway point in the timing of the transit.

There are several astrological interpretations of this astronomical event. Debra Campbell says "This alignment will force us to look within ourselves, and into each other’s hearts. The key really is about love, healing and most importantly, forgiveness of ourselves and others."  Cathy Lynn Pagano  notes that since "Venus is moving through the sign of Gemini, the Mind, we are being called upon to create a New Mind (Gemini Solar Eclipse), with new categories of belief (Sagittarius) and perception (Gemini), including a renewed knowledge of dreams, of unseen realities, and of out-of-the-box potentials of the human mind and heart."

Who knows what this alignment may bring? I sugest to write whatever you want to happen in 2012 onwards right now and reflect. It's like a wish list but be very clear what it is that you want.

To those who will be out there to watch the transit, PAGASA warns that "observing the Sun directly without filters can cause a temporary or permanent loss of visual function, as it can damage or destroy retinal cells." So please do NOT wear your sunglasses! Protect yourself by using special solar eclipse glasses or a welder's glasses (#14 or darker), peer through a pinhole projector or telescope, or better yet, watch early during the ingress at 6 am until 7-ish,  then from 9am onwards, watch the live webcast of slooh online.

322 earthquake warning

"You've been warned!" That's what a friend told me last Friday regarding 322 or March 22, 2012. He said to make sure that I have enough water and food on this day. Somewhat alarmed, I tweeted and asked for the significance of the date and two astrologers replied:

9Nania who uploaded the video on January 11, 2012 said that "the likelihood that there will be another megaquake and axis shift on March 22, 2012 is very high. The cause of these shifts is a massive celestial object moving inward from the 9 o'clock orientation of the solar system/springtime/constellations Leo-Orion."

The theory of the megaquake is based on the 188 day cycle starting from the earthquake in Chile:
1. February 27, 2010 - earth's axis shifted 3 inches, 8.8 earthquake in Chile
2. September 3, 2010 - 7.0 earthquake in New Zealand (recorded 188 days after)
3. March 11, 2011 - earth's axis shifted 4-10 inches, 9.0 earthquake in Japan (189 days after)
4. September 15, 2011 - 7.3 earthquake in Fiji (188 days after)

And here's another video uploaded by Terral03 on January 25, 2012. This time, specifying the time @ 4:58:34 UTC, intensity 9+ magnitude quake and the location in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Terral03 in his video called it the Illuminati day and qualified that this is not the end of the world.  He said that there's a high probability that it may occur anywhere along the diagonal between New Zealand and Alaska.

Alright, I've done some research and considering that three earthquakes happened in the last two months - 6.8-magnitude in Negros (Feb 6),  5.2 in Masbate (March 6) and 5.3 in Mindoro (March 9), I might as well heed the advise of my friend to take stock of food and water. I am sharing this not to alarm you but just to prepare. Be safe!
